M&E Quantity Surveyor (Glasgow or Edinburgh)
Job Description
As an Mechanical and / or Electrical QS in the team, you will be responsible for the following:
Project work (with support):
Being the interface for projects between the client, design team and the project delivery team to support their successful delivery.
Ensuring efficient and timely implementation of project requirements and maintain projects on time and on budget.
Ensuring adequate and timely communication channels are in place to support effective project delivery.
Co-ordinating and prepare information to support the client, seek and listen to the client’s requirements and act on them accordingly.
Management of appropriate design, programme and cost information to allow recommendations and support decision making.
Providing guidance on the most effective procurement approach to achieve project deliverables.
Providing cost advice to clients when needed, for both project work and within relevant reports.
Providing accurate measure from consultant’s drawings
Obtaining quotations for plant and equipment
Actively participating in the preparation of tender documents ensuring a full and comprehensive understanding of the project requirements is conveyed and reflected in tender documentation.
Assisting with the review and commenting upon tender returns.
Negotiations with contractors to ensure tender costs represent best value.
Assisting with the preparation of contract documents
Reviewing contractor’s variations
Undertaking valuations of the M&E services
Reporting cost in a timely manner to the client.
Undertaking life cycle costs
General duties
Overseeing/reviewing/approving the work of junior members of staff, in a positive and constructive manner, as may be required for the delivery of project appointments.
Generally representing Egis in a professionally competent and positive manner, ensuring service quality and integrity is maintained to the highest possible standards.
Reporting to the client and other stakeholders in line with the client’s requirement with company standards.
Delivering great client experience:
The M&E QS will build strong, professional relationships with clients, consultants and contractors:
Representing Egis at project meetings with clients, designers and contractors - providing advice on all aspects of project assignments and following up on actions assigned to Egis.
Communicating clearly, concisely and coherently with the client and other consultants regarding information required for the purpose of performing our services.
Identifying risks and issues with ongoing activities and positively identifying mitigation measures in a way that both protects the interests of the client, Egis and any other relevant stakeholders.
In doing all of this, the M&E QS will act in a manner which fully reflects our culture and values: confident, honest, responsible, supportive.
